After 17 years, I finally have a view! A few weeks ago we were trying to decide where to relocate our water cooler since we hired a few new people and the empty cubicle that the cooler was in would need to be occupied by one of the new hires. In looking at options, we stumbled across an empty small cubicle with a sliver of a window. I've sat in my current space for years and have lately been quite frustrated with the noise level of my neighbors. I asked management if I could move to the tiny cubicle and they were shocked that I would be willing to give up my spacious cube for a space so small. My motivation was two-fold. I primarily wanted a quieter location so I could actually review reports without having to listen to classical music on my iPod to block out the many conversations around me. Plus, although I've worked there for 17 years, there are many people ahead of me seniority wise, that would get a prized window cubicle when one becomes available. No one wanted this space because it is tiny, but that didn't bother me. I'm not as much of a pack-rat as some of my co-workers. I had to move quickly so I stored most of my files in the adjacent tiny empty cubicle until I have time to send it all to the Records Center. I love my new work space!

New office cubicle
