For some reason my camera was blurry on this trip, but here's Kyra on Ruby, her favorite horse at the Southern Cross Guest Ranch. Also pictured is Kyra interacting with the foals that were born in May. We had an amazing vacation here in late July/early August and I promised we'd return before our favorite guide, Britta, returned to Germany on 10/9. I picked Kyra up from school as soon as it ended on Friday and we drove to the ranch. (I had about an hour-long scare earlier in the day that I wouldn't find a gas station that had fuel. Thankfully I finally found one so we could go on our trip.) We arrived Friday evening and had our choice of three rooms. We picked the Seminole room (if my memory is cor

rect), which had a great view of the pasture. After dinner and a game of scrabble in the sunroom/common area, we retired to our room and watched the McCain/Obama debate. Saturday morning we had a wonderful breakfast and then headed to the stables. We had two, two-hour, great trail rides with Britta on our favorite horses, Ruby and Missy. We were able to trot on many occassions and cantered a few times. At the end of the day, we ate dinner and then spent an hour in the pasture visiting with the horses. After the sun set, we left reluctantly to return home. Kyra was upset that we had to leave, but the ranch was sold-out of rooms for the night so we had no choice. When we got home, Kyra was so tired that she fell asleep, fully clothed, on my bed while I brought in our suitcase. What an amazing day!
