OMG, I can't believe I actually did it! All those months of training paid off and I completed my first marathon today. It was slow, but interesting how 27 seems to be our lucky number. I finished the 26.2 miles of the Spinx Run Fest marathon in Greenville, SC, in 5 hours, 27 minutes and 2 seconds. (And I wasn't last.) I am euphoric! This has been a dream of mine for over a decade, but pregnancy and injuries got in the way. After my ACL/meniscus surgery almost 3 years ago, I had a difficult recovery period and I wondered if I would ever be able to run again. But just like the great doc and PT said, I could accomplish this goal. Look at my running blog if you want more info on this amazing race. I'm just sad that Laura couldn't run it with me. Maybe next year...
