09-09-09

Happy 09-09-09! We only have a few more years of this month/day/year being the same in this century, so might as well celebrate! I didn't really celebrate the occassion, but here's my story of the day. After taking Kyra to school and the pups to Funnybones, I went into the office and picked up the suburban for a business trip to South Carolina. I stopped at Zaxby's for lunch and was so excited to see their gumball machine! The Zaxby's that we normally go to no longer has a gumball machine and the last time we were there, Kyra and I talked about where we could find a gumball machine again. I just couldn't resist snapping this photo to celebrate!

I went to the Shuron Inc. Superfund Site in Barnwell, SC. The consultant is conducting Geoprobe sampling to better determine the extent of contamination. The testing equipment was malfunctioning when I arrived, but they hoped to have it in working order by tomorrow. The government travel system didn't list any hotels for Barnwell (but a few do exist there), so I had made reservations at the Marriott in Augusta, GA. It was raining when I arrived at the hotel and I didn't feel like traveling too much further. I could see the Boll Weevil Cafe across the street, from my hotel room window. I looked it up on the Internet; the reviews were great so I went there for dinner. It's a quaint little restaurant. I ordered jambalaya. The meal was excellent! Their specialty is desserts, but I was full after the meal. I ordered a slice of carrot cake, to go. I look forward to eating it for breakfast tomorrow.
