Laura made eggs, bacon, cinamon rolls, and toast for breakfast. With so many people, we had to carefully ration. The kids played well together. After breakfast, we had to get dressed and leave. It was a short visit, but I promised we'd return in the future, once basketball is over, where we could stay longer. They said Riley was welcome to return. I was grateful that he didn't destroy anything. I think he was too scared. Next time, he just might be comfortable enough to be destructive. I hope not...
Kyra and I left around 9:45 a.m. and took Riley home. We
had about 30 minutes at home before we had to go to her basketball game. Her team lost again, 5 to 20, against Dacula. Kyra scored 3 of the 5 points. She was hit pretty hard by another player and fell hard to the ground in the last quarter. She got up crying and limped off the court. I worried about her, but decided to stay put. I tried to balance keeping an eye on the game for statistics tracking versus keeping an eye on her on the bench. I knew if I went over there she would break down in tears harder. I rationalized that since she could walk off the court, it couldn't be horribly serious. I was a bit surprised, but at the same time glad, w
hen Coach put her back in the game a few minutes later. She limped at first but then broke into her usual stride. I knew this was the best thing for her if nothing was broken. After the game she said her hip really hurt badly. We went home and iced it. She had landed hard on the floor, so I fore-warned her that it might bruise and would probably hurt for a few days. Ouch. Poor baby. But I'm proud of her for getting back in the game (and scoring the most points on her team).
