piano elves, another loss, horse play

The Elves decided to play the piano and sing Christmas Carols this morning. Unfortunately, they were silent carols and it took Kyra a while to find them.

Kyra's basketball team lost again today, 6 to 21. Bummer... After the game, we went to the mall for lunch and to buy her new shoes as well as a few Christmas presents. We found gifts for Claudette (her step-mom) and Delaney (her half-sister), but struggled with what to buy for her dad. Claudette suggested a painted pottery popcorn bowl. The pottery painting store said if we painted a piece today, it would be ready for pick-up in a week. So that option is out. She also suggested a movie, but we got him one for his birthday and want to do something different. Kyra suggested a gift card to REI, but I prefer to give real gifts if possible. Men are so hard to buy for! We'll think on it...
When we returned home, I went for a "long run" on the treadmill in our basement. Kyra entertained herself while I was running. She watched TV for a while and then ventured into the basement and retrieved horses and corrals. She took her new shoe box and turned it into stables. Why should I buy new Christmas gifts when she's happy to re-discover existing toys and create new ones out of boxes?
