The first item on the agenda today was taking the dogs to the vet for check-ups and vaccines. What a fun time we had! Dr. Boudreaux said that both Tasha and Riley looked happy and healthy. She'll call on Monday with the results of their labwork. She said that Riley isn't over-weight (74 pounds), but that we should make sure that he doesn't pack on more pounds, as golden retrievers tend to do. He's a healthy 74 pounds now, but doesn't need to gain any more weight. Tasha weighs 34 pounds today, which is only slightly above her normal 33 pounds, so no worries with her.
Sophia came over to play around 12:30 p.m. A few hours later, Bryn called to see if Kyra could go to a movie with her. I talked to Lisa and told her that Sophia was visiting, so it would depend on the time of the movie. She said it would be later in the afternoon and that she would call back. Tonya and Natalie came back to get Sophia around 4:30 p.m. The girls had fun playing together. Kyra wanted to go to the park with them, but I had told Lisa that she could go to the movies with them. Lisa arrived before Ty, Sophia and Natalie left, so that was a bit awkward... I thought she was going to call first... Kyra was upset because I had made the decision for her to go with Bryn. I made the decision after Ty said she would be picking Sophia up around 4, and knowing that we didn't have any other plans for the evening. Plus, Kyra told Lisa/Bryn that she would be free to do something with them this weekend since Bryn came to our house last weekend. I felt weird/like a bad mom, after the house was empty. I should have asked Kyra before agreeing for her to go to the movies.
Thankfully, Kyra had a great time at the movies and enjoyed dinner out with Bryn. And I learned a valuable lesson; don't consent to two play dates for the same day.
