PCB here we come...

Well, I had planned to get up early, but I didn't sleep well and was very tired so I reset the alarm clock and finally got up at 6:30 a.m. Of course, I should be fully rested before starting out on our vacation... I started packing but didn't finish as soon as I had originally hoped. We took a break and picked Colleen up at 8 a.m. since her dad was expecting us there at that time. Then returned home to finish packing and take the dogs to Funnybones.

We finally left the house at 10 a.m. to drive to Panama City Beach, FL. After three stops along the way, a couple of wrong turns, and bad traffic in PCB, we finally made it to the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort around 4 p.m. (local time). We were assigned Room 1520 which is located on the top floor. We had a great view of the beach, ocean, and if we looked directly down we could see the pools. Ahhhhhh nice!!! While we were standing on the balcony overlooking the ocean, Kyra commented that this feels more like vacation than any other vacation we've gone on in a long time. I agree. I'm looking forward to spending 5 days at the beach!

After bringing the essentials in from the car, I took the car to the parking lot and then we changed into bathing suits. The girls wanted to go straight to the beach and that sounded like a great idea to me! We played in the ocean and on the beach until about 6:30 p.m. Kyra built a set of stairs in the sand and then expanded it into a dragonfly. In the second photo the girls are working on a moat to protect the dragonfly from the incoming ocean waters. FUN!
At 6:30 p.m. we were all hungry. We went up to the hotel pool and ordered from the poolside grill. Kids eat free with an adult meal purchase, so the girls ordered the kids pizza, I got a hamburger and ordered a side of mozzarella sticks for the girls since the kids free pizza is small. At 8 p.m. every night the hotel plays a movie on a big screen on by the pool. We had fun watching from the pool. After the movie was over we returned to the hotel room and readied for bed. It's so nice to be on vacation!
