Trail run at Stone Mountain

WHERE ARE THE DOG LEASHES? I couldn't find them so I called Kyra's dad's house to ask her since she had them last. She said they were in the Club House. The absolutely last place I would have imagined to look. Glad I gave up searching after 10 minutes and called!

Riley didn't eat this morning, but seemed energetic so I took him and Tasha to Stone Mountain to try out my new Patagonia Release trail shoes before my trail race tomorrow. I didn't care how far or how fast we went. We jogged/walked/hiked along the Cherokee trail and explored parts of the trail that I hadn't gone to previously. Tasha has previously been skittish of the water, but she was the first one to jump in the lake. Riley stepped in to his knees but wasn't interested in going any further. I was totally surprised! I thought all golden retrievers loved to swim? Maybe he's just nervous because he's never been to a lake before. We had a great time hiking/jogging/walking. They were worn out after the 3.64 miles and spent the rest of the day lounging around the house.

The few times that Riley got up, he coughed. I wasn't sure if he had something stuck in his throat that he was trying to cough up or if he was sick. He lounged around all day, ate a little of his dinner so that made me feel like maybe he's okay/nothing stuck in his throat. I feared that it was part of the rawhide that we gave him for his birthday, or something worse. I was lazy too this evening and laid on the couch watching TV. Riley cuddled close. I wondered, is he just worn out from the jog/hike/walk or is he sick? Should I take him to the vet?
