anticipation

For the past year or so, I've driven Kyra to school because she says she hates to ride the bus.  And to be honest, we're rarely ready to go when the bus arrives.  But...  Kyra said she wanted to ride the bus this morning to save Zoe from having to sit with an anoying girl.  Zoe said she would be riding the bus this morning.  Kyra was ready early, and sat looking out the front window (with Riley) for Zoe to appear {she lives across the street}. I guess Zoe's parent's had other plans, because Zoe didn't emerge before the bus arrived. Kyra was a tad disappointed, but not as much as she would have been if she had gotten on the bus alone. I took Kyra to school and suggested maybe another day would be better.

Regardless, this morning reminded me of the first day of kindergarten when Kyra sat staring out of the same window (different paint) in hopes the bus would appear soon. She was so looking forward to riding the bus on the first day of kindergarten, in August 2004!
