foot pain, cuddle bug

Kyra's spending tonight with her dad. I've been having foot/heel pain that I suspect is plantar fasciitis, based on the symptoms. For a month or longer I've noticed a pain on the bottom of my foot, between the heel and arch, during the first few steps that I take in the morning. It's gotten worse lately with the pain occuring not just at first awakening, but also on first steps after sitting for a while. I thought that it may be from running in shoes with too many miles on them so I bought a new pair/different brand last week. No improvement yet.  I read that one of the treatment techniques is a splint that holds your foot flexed at night. I decided to sleep on the couch tonight because I know that I can tuck my foot into the gap between the two couch pieces to keep it flexed, and when I've done this in the past, it has helped/hurts less the next morning. Riley loves to cuddle at night. He prefers Kyra, but when she's not here, he settles for me. The couch isn't wide enough for him to cuddle-hug me, but here he is sprawled out in my space, under my legs.
