cold hill repeats; orange bowl

Brrrrrr....  it's cold outside! The high today was 28 degrees! I was scheduled to run hill repeats today and can't exactly do that easily on the treadmill, so I bundled up and headed to Stone Mountain. The plan called for a 1-mile warm-up, then 6x40 seconds hard up-hill run, walk or jog back down, and do 10 push-ups and 10 crunches at the bottom of each hill repeat. To be followed by a 1-mile cool down. I stuck to the plan. The first photo is the first part of the hill that I ran on. The second photo is of the location that I did push-ups and crunches. The last two sets of push-ups were challenging, but felt like I could have done a zillion more crunches. Several people gave me funny looks when they saw me on the ground doing push-ups. But since it is such a cold week-day, there weren't a lot of people around.

After I finished, I picked up Kyra, we went home and I took a shower and then made a quick dinner. Next we went to basketball practice. I was SO TIRED!!! It took much effort not to fall asleep during practice. Thankfully, there were a few moms there to talk to that kept me awake. One mom is planning to start running again. She said her husband wants to run a marathon in October. Awesome!
We came home and I got a second wind. The Orange Bowl was on. We had to watch Georgia Tech play! We made it through the half-time show (Kool and the Gang), but Kyra was fading fast. She was lying on the couch with her head in my lap. After the half-time show she admitted to wanting to go to bed, but didn't want to miss anything. I reassured her that we would check the score in the morning. Night night sleep tight!
