All Star Game

Let the games begin... I think they pick the All Star team players by choosing the best players of the league, that have said they would be available. For Team Dynomite, Kyra, Mikayla, Grace and Caroline were selected. They incorporated 3 more girls from the #1 team, which were great players, but their best player wasn't there. They practiced on Monday night and had a great time. I had to practically drag Kyra out of the gym because she wanted to continue playing around. The All Star game was tonight. The other team had someone lined up to keep the scorebook so I got to sit with the other parents and snap a few photographs.

I was totally shocked when Kyra's dad walked in during the first quarter, tapped me hello and then walked to the other end of the courts to watch the game. I was sitting by the door so I wasn't sure if he just didn't want to be near the door, or if he just didn't want to chat with me. It was odd because yesterday I was disappointed (for Kyra's sake) that he hadn't called Kyra to ask how the championship game had gone Saturday. I had debated about sending him a text message or an email with how they did, but then decided not to, leaving it up to him to initiate contact if he was interested in knowing how it went. That was an important game to Kyra. I had invited him (and his wife and other daughter) to the end-of-the-season party on Sunday, but she responded saying they had other plans. Back to the game...

The game was very close and I wondered what they would do if it ended in a tie. But sadly, the other team (Sydney Partlow) scored 1 point in a free-throw which resulted in a final score of 7 to 6 (we lost). Oh well.... it was a great game! and a wonderful season.

Kyra was just as surprised as I was to see her dad. We all talked briefly after the game and then Kyra and I went home. I grilled chicken and we had baked beans with it for dinner. We tested the BBQ sauce that Curtis sent me as a Christmas gift from Oklahoma. WOW! We both thought it was the best sauce we've ever tasted! Thanks Curtis!
