You know you're addicted to running when... you've had a fever for two days, yet still get up 5:30 a.m. to run in a race while it's raining... Of course, I paid for it later. What I failed to mention in yesterday's blog is that I had a fever and didn't feel well, but had too much to do to let it keep me down. I couldn't let Kyra's class down on their Valentine's Day party and I had to take care of Riley. Of course, that continued into today as well. I woke up at 5:30 a.m. still running a fever and having sinus congestion/runny nose. But... I had registered for this race and already picked up my t-shirt, so I must run it. In years past, I've run the half-marathon portion of the Run the Reagan, but this year I registered for the 10K since it fit in well with my half-marathon training plan for the event I'm running in March. This year I ran the entire race, only walking during two short water stations. It was a lot easier than the half-marathon that I ran there last year! It misted rain almost the entire race; I'm glad I left my cell phone in the car. I finished mid-pack of the women runners, 266th out of 435 women, 28th out of 60 women in my age group category. I was able to sprint at the finish and wasn't totally wiped out afterwards. I was happy with my results. Afterwards, I saw two people that I know and stopped to chat with them, separately. I left the race feeling good.
I went home and then my illness began to hit harder. After lunch, I climbed back in bed for a nap. I spent the rest of the day lying in bed, with a very handsome man... too bad he was Kyra's puppy, Riley, instead of Prince Charming...
