This was a hard day... I don't really know why... Riley is the first male pet I've had since childhood. I don't know why neutering him would be so perplexing. I know it's the right thing to do since I have no intention of starting a breeding farm. I had Neko and Indy spayed when they were kittens, over a decade ago, and I don't recall it being this trying. Tiger and Tasha had been spayed before we adopted them. So, today is Riley's turn. Happy pre-Valentine's Day! I dropped him off at the vet's office at 7 a.m. and then went to work. They told me if I hadn't received a call from them by noon, to call them. So at 11:37, I couldn't wait any longer and called to check in. The receptionist said that all went well and he's recovering peacefully and that the Doctor would call me back shortly. Mid-afternoon, the doctor finally called, appologizing for the delay saying there had been other surgeries. I jokingly asked if she had removed his will to chew the house to shreds, but she didn't get it. She did say that he is a "very handsome man" and that all went well. I can pick him up tomorrow between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Kyra and I spent the evening preparing for Valentine's Day. After dinner, she addressed Valentine's Cards to her classmates while I prepared items for the class party. We stayed up later than I had hoped, but got a lot accomplished.
