Recently, the girls basketball team at the High School that Kyra will eventually be going to became the 2009 Region 8-AAAAA Champions.
This put them into the playoffs for State championship. Tonight was round one. A few years ago I took Kyra to a Georgia Tech women's basketball game and she loved it. So I thought that we would support our local high school tonight by going to their game. I told Kyra she could invite a friend, and within a fraction of a second she responded with "Grace"!
Grace came over around 5:45 p.m. and
the girls played for a little while before dinner. When I called them to the table, they responded that they had an early "birthday surprise" for me and would be there in a few minutes. Oh no... They eventually came to the dining room singing a birthday song. Kyra had makeup all over her face, including a star drawn with lipstick on her forehead. I shook my head and reminded her that we were going out in public soon. She reassured me that she could quickly wash her face after dinner.
Kyra washed most of the make-up off, changed clothes, and then we were off to the game. I was very impressed at how well the high school girls played! We were very happy to see Parkview win easily with a final score of 47 to 38. We really had a great time!
After dropping Grace

off at her house, we went home and Kyra immediately got on the computer to look at the schedule. She wanted to go to all the games in the play-offs, but the next game will be on a night that she's with her dad. I told her that if they make it to the finals, I'll take her to that game. I truly hope they are successful!
