Spring Forward

I realized this afternoon that I haven't shard any Riley stories lately. It's not because he's been reformed... He's working his way into a new hole in the drywall in the basement. He hasn't made it all the way through yet... He's also been chewing away at the matting on the mini-trampoline in the basement. Yesterday he destroyed a very nice pair of Kyra's favorite Sketcher flip flops. (She doesn't know it yet.) I will spare you the photo of the half-eaten bird that he brought in the house last night. He woke me for his usual midnight potty break and I saw him pick something up with his mouth before coming back inside. I tried to get him to "drop it" outside, but he just wouldn't listen. All I could see was something dark hanging out of the side of his mouth and I just hoped it was a soggy stick. I eventually gave up begging him to "drop it" and let him back in; I was soooo tired. He almost immediately dropped it onto the living room floor and then I discovered that it was half of a bird's body. Ewwww!!!! And this morning he woke me with one of my Georgia Tech Croc's in his mouth! I coaxed him into giving it back to me, but it was too late; the back strap had already been chewed in half.

Today was a gorgeous day with temperatures near 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It was too nice to stay inside so I went to Stone Mountain for a 5-mile run. I only ran 4 miles, though, because I've been having pain in my "good" knee lately. It got too intense at 4 miles, so I walked that last mile back to the car. It only hurts when I'm running; not at first but a few miles into it and particularly on hills. When I got back home, I mowed the yard, blew off the driveway and deck, and trimmed one of our two crepe myrtles. I also cleaned the grill and deck table while I cooked bratwurst. I enjoyed a very nice dinner out on the deck this evening. It sure was nice!
