the birds and the bees

Flashback: About 6 months ago, Kyra asked me what "S-E-X" meant. I can still remember sitting with her in the bathroom having this conversation. I explained it in general terms and she said, "EWWWWW..... I'M NEVER GOING TO HAVE A BABY! THAT'S GROSS!" I wonder how long that feeling will last... 'Til she's 30?

So tonight, while I was making dinner and Kyra was watching TV, I was listening to a Podcast called Shock of the News. The Podcast includes two guys talking about crazy newspaper articles. While listening, I started laughing and Kyra asked what was so funny. I told her that the Podcast I was listening to mentioned a news article in which a teenager's mom claimed that her teenage daughter got pregnant from swimming in a pool while on vacation. Without me saying anything further, Kyra said 'only way that's possible is if the pool was drained & there's a little somethin somethin in there with her'. I asked her what she meant by "somethin somethin" and she said "a boy". Glad to know that she completely understands the birds and the bees, well before the time she needs to!
