Will was right. We didn't make it to church this morning. I was so tired after my 16-mile run yesterday! I slept, off-and-on, until noon. I let the dogs out around 5 a.m., went back to sleep on the couch, then fed them at 7 a.m., then went back to sleep, then Kyra woke me again around 9:30 a.m., then she watched TV while I slept again until a little after noon. I was still tired when I woke at noon, but knew I need to get up since Danita was expecting us at the pool before the swim team awards party. So I got up, made a quick lunch, baked cookies for the party, and packed our pool bag/cooler. We finally made it to the pool at 2:30 p.m., but none of our friends were there. I called Danita and she said she was waiting on Claude to get back from their new shop.
So I hung out in the pool with Kyra until Sophia and Karolin arrived. Now that Kyra had a friend to play with, I helped Karolin set up for the swim team awards party. Kyra received a participation trophy. At first I was surprised that someone else in her age group received the highest point-score trophy but then I remembered that Kyra didn't swim in all the meets even though she's a better swimmer than the girl that won the trophy. We talked about it later and Kyra agreed that spending two weeks at camp in PA was totally much better than receiving another trophy! I was a little embarrassed to be called up to receive a giant clock necklace award. But to be honest, it's totally me! At every swim meet I show up wearing all the stop watches around my neck until I give them out to my minions (I'm the head timer for our team). How fun! Kyra says she's going to make me wear this clock, along with my stop watches, next year. I just might embarrass her by doing so! Fun times!
