I went to church this morning and then spent the afternoon paying bills and de-cluttering the kitchen, fireplace mantle, and guestroom/office. It's not perfect, but 6 trash bags later, it's certainly a lot better. Who knew there was actually a floor in the guest bedroom? Someone on twitter wrote the other day, "procrastination is like masterbation... you're only f***ing yourself". I've been putting off cleaning out this room for months and I paid for it today by having to spend many hours going through mostly junk with a few tid-bits worth saving. I filled the trash bin completely full and had 2 other bags that will be set beside the bin for the trash collectors. There are still quite a few books/magazines to go through/recycle, and I haven't even begun on the closet, but I made a lot of progress. It took a lot of time, but I feel such a huge reward in the harmony that a mostly-decluttered room brings.
