We started off with horse riding lessons at Twelve Oaks in Buford. Kyra's taken lessons at Rancho Alegre for over a year, but we've had problems with reliability of the instructors. There was a recent instructor change and we hoped for the best, but weekend before last she didn't show, nor return calls until the following Monday. So we're testing out a different place. Kyra went to Twelve Oaks last weekend with her dad/step-mom, and seemed to enjoy it. So I took her this morning. It's a lot different than what we're used to. Indoor arena with the focus on posture/position. She walked most of the time with a little trotting at the end of the lesson. Kyra seems to really like this place so maybe we'll try it for a while. She said she wanted to stay to watch the next girl's lesson, but I noticed she didn't watch the girl at all, but
had fun petting and playing with the kittens. Whatever.... at least she's happy!
It took us 35 minutes to drive there, but 90 minutes to get home thanks to an accident on the interstate that had us parked for a while. Thank goodness I refilled the car with gas just before we got on I-85!
Shortly after we arrive home, Sophia called and said they were going to go to the park for a picnic and wanted to know if Kyra could go with them. Yes! Sophia, Natalie, and their babysitter/brother's girlfriend (Jamie) arrived at 1 p.m. and took Kyra with them to the park. I told Jamie that I was going to be on the t
readmill in the basement for a few hours, so whenever she wanted bring Kyra back home would be okay with me. Kyra took her cell phone and we exchanged a few texts over the next several hours. Tonya called and said they planned to go to the pool and asked if it was okay if Kyra went with them and suggested that I meet them there for adult beverages. I told her I was 1 mile into a 16-mile run, so she was welcome to take Kyra to the pool, but it would be a while before I could join them. I ran on the treadmill in the basement while watching Runaway Jury and then listening to podcasts. It was too hot to run outside! Every so often I exchanged text messages with Kyra or Tonya during walk breaks. I made it through 16 miles in 3 hours, 24 minutes! Slow, but done!
Afterwards I realized that Riley had taken my pillow outside and shredded the case! BAD DOG!!!
Tonya invited us to join them for dinner at Bambinelli's before going to HanarryStock at our neighboring Hanarry Estates neighborhood. Our local club's band, Mid-Life Crisis was scheduled to play at 9:15 p.m. We had a great dinner at Bambinellis and then went to Hanarry Estates for HanarryStock. HanarryStock started yesterday afternoon with a variety of local bands playing until 11 p.m. yesterday and then they continued all day today. I was surprised at how big the crowd was! But honestly, at least a third of the people that were there were from HW, simply to show support for our friends' band. The kids had fun on the playground, and dancing to the music, and splattering the insides of glow-sticks on their legs. I enjoyed Danita's birthday cake (that she made for herself, YUM), as well as hanging out with Tonya and seeing other friends. I just wish that I had taken my camera instead of leaving my purse in the car... Oh well, a great time was had by all!
