The Promotion Ceremony from elementary school to middle school was held tonight. Kyra spent over an hour getting ready, and it showed. She looked BEAUTIFUL! I was SO PROUD of her accomplishments! She received a trophy for making all A's on report cards from kindergarten through 5th grade. An amazing achievement! The first photo is of her with her 5th grade teacher, Mrs. McClellan. What a wonderful teacher! But then again, she's been blessed with amazing teachers every year. Mrs. Gabrielson for kindergarten, Mrs. Streich for 1st grade, Mrs. Malloy for 2nd grade, Mrs. Bandy for 3rd grade, Mrs. Walker for 4th grade, Mrs. Rike and Mrs. Breedlove for gifted classes. They all have shaped her acadamic career in a most positive way.
The second picture is of silly girls. Kyra and Sophia (left) have been great friends since the summer before kindergarten. Savannah (right) has been in at least three of Kyra's classes and they are great buddies. Allyson (rear) was in Kyra's class for the first time this year, but they've known each other since kindergarten. We recruited Allyson to play basketball on Kyra's Gwinnett Basketball League team this year, and so glad she/her parents agreed! Of course, Ally is being silly in this photo and Kyra is giving her a "talk to the hand" gesture. What fun!
The third photo is of three more great friends. We met Bryn (left) during the summer before kindergarten. They were in 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade together. Bryce (in blue shirt) is Kyra's best guy friend. They've been in classes together most of their years in elementary. She says he's not a "boyfriend", but her best buddy that is a boy. He's a sweet kid. David (right) has been in a few of Kyra's classes; I remember 2nd and 5th grade most prominently and he may have been in others. He's a great kid too!
The last photo is celebrating at Bruster's (ice cream) after the ceremony. We had to wait in line for about a half hour, but it was totally worth it! The kids had so much fun! What a great night! I'm so proud of my baby girl and also can't believe how fast time has flown by. Seems like it was just yesterday when she was sitting in the dining room window in her pajamas looking out the window to make sure the bus didn't come early on the first day of kindergarten. I love you so much Kyra!
