teacher's appreciation day flower
This week is Teacher's Appreciation Week. Tuesday morning, students were supposed to bring in a flower which would be combined with other student's flowers into a single vase for the teacher. Of course I forgot about it until almost time to leave that morning. I went out into our rose garden and cut a yellow rose bud. Kyra wasn't impressed. She looked harder and found a gorgeous purple iris in full bloom. WOW! I planted a dozen or so purple iris bulbs years ago that have never bloomed! I was so happy to see one! Kyra selected the iris to give to her teacher instead. Since I had already cut the yellow rose bud, I set it in my empty 26.2 tea mug and took it into work for my desk. I'm happy to say that it is blooming! I'd rather have the iris, but am thrilled with the rose. Maybe next year more irises will bloom...They are my favorite flower!
