Breyer Fun Day

I told Kyra last night that if I woke up early this morning I would make a big breakfast. So, as usual, Riley woke me at 5:30 a.m. I was tempted to go back to bed after feeding the critters, but decided to stay up instead and get some housework down. I made boiled eggs, sausage and hashbrowns for breakfast and Kyra was pleased!

She had horse riding lessons at 9:45. I enjoyed reading my Runner's World magazine while watching her ride. Next we went to the store Horsetown for their Breyer Fun Day. For those of you that aren't horse fanatics, Breyer is a brand of horse models, dolls, accessories that are every little girl-who-loves-horses dream. The "free" event included painting a small model horse, decorating a horse shoe, making a necklace (which we skipped), a bean-bag toss game, food and door prizes. The door prizes included Breyer horses and other items. Since we never win anything, I agreed to buy her a new Breyer horse. So the "free" event ended up costing me money, as I'm sure the store expected. She wanted a "fun" new horse to name Dr. Seuss. She selected a Percheron model that reminded me of Lola from Southern Cross Guest Ranch. She named him Dr. Seuss. While we were there, I noticed that they had on display horse shower curtain hangers. I asked the salesperson if they had any in stock and they were sold out. I asked if I could buy the display ones and they were more than willing. Yippee! These will go great with Kyra's soon-to-be-redecorated-bathroom.

After dinner and more playing of Rock Band, I continued doing housework while Kyra watched TV. As you may recall, the Easter Bunny brought her horse-related bathroom decor (shower curtain, towels, kleenex holder, cup, candle. So tonight I transformed her bathroom from the prior sea-life/educational watershed curtain, to a horsie bathroom. She likes it much better. Many months ago I decided to redo her bedroom. The goal was to convert it to horse decor. I didn't get very far with it though. I moved the furniture to the center of the room and started painting over the orange and blue (school colors) walls with Kilz, but didn't complete the job. I had bought a horseshoe clock off of eBay for her room. Since her room isn't finished yet, I opted to replace the rusted fish artwork in her bathroom with the horseshoe clock. Maybe by summer I'll finish with her room...
