cross training

My training plan called for strength and cross-training today. Kyra spent last night with Joe, so I went into work early this morning so I could leave early this afternoon. I left the office at 3:15 and went to the gym. I did 30 minutes of light strength training on the machines, not wanting to over-do it on my first time in the gym in months. I followed that with 30 minutes on the stationary bike. Then I went to get Kyra from day care.

When we arrived home, it was a sunny day and the grass is way too tall. I didn't have time to cut it last weekend. So, since I was already sweaty/stinky, I decided to cut the grass before making dinner. This gave me about 40 more minutes of walking/pushing the lawn mower. I showered, put on pj's and made dinner, thinking I was done for the day. But while we were eating, Kyra wondered why I had put on pj's since I had told her two days ago that we would practice "loose leash" walking with Riley. So, I changed into shorts and a t-shirt and we went for a walk with the dogs. Riley did very well, not pulling nearly as much on the leash. Tasha, on the otherhand, pulled constantly. I used the harness for her, but think I'm going to try the Canny collar next time. So, I got in much more cross-training than planned, but at least it was gentle walking.
