5 yrs; supercalifragilisticexpialidocious; why are tires made out of rubber?

Five years ago today, we purchased the house that we currently live in. Wow has time flown by...

Aparently, the kids in Kyra's class liked the positive vibes on their CRCT snack bags today. Kyra's teacher asked her to pass them out to her class, since I had prepared them and took them to school this morning. Kyra purposely kept "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" for herself. She had fun giving certain people certain slogans. However, she said that she was disappointed that there was not one negative saying because there is at least one kid in her class that she would have liked to give something negative to...

Well, today was the 113th running of the Boston marathon... Maybe by the time I'm 50, if I keep training, I'll be able to qualify... Or most likely, I'll just keep dreaming.

I did a miserable 2.22 miles on the treadmill before having a low-blood-sugar attack this evening. So I stopped, had a snack and made dinner. Then we decided to take the dogs to Mountain Park to expose Riley to a different environment. We figured out his shyness. He's afraid of things with wheels, such as shopping carts, razor scooters, and skateboards! He was fine at the park in the beginning, happily greeting people and dogs. When we neared the skatepark portion, he started to get nervous. When a kid approached on a razor scooter, he tucked his tail between his legs and began shaking. Well, I'm glad we figured out his fear, now if we can only figure out how to overcome it. We stayed by the skatepark watching the skaters for about 20 minutes, hoping he'd get used to the sound. We walked about a mile in the park.

When we returned to the car, I noticed the rear tire was almost flat! Bummer! We went home to return the dogs and I did an internet search to find a tire company that might still be open. It was 8:15 p.m. at this point. I called several places and then lucked out to find that NTB was open until 9 p.m. Yippee! So we drove straight there... There was a piece of glass that had puctured the tire, and driving on it while flat had damaged the sidewall, so I had to buy a brand new tire. Now that was $130 that I hadn't planned on spending today... Of course Kyra pointed out that on the bright side, at least it was a "pretty piece of red glass" :)

While we were waiting, Kyra looked at the display tires. She asked me why tires were made of rubber... I suggested she ask her dad, but he didn't respond to our text message. So if any of you readers know the answer, please write us!
