Parents' Night at Trickum

Tonight I attended Parents' Night at Trickum Middle School. Hard to believe that Kyra only has a little over a month left of elementary school... The middle school assistant principal for 6th grade said they are estimating 587 students for their 6th grade class next year. WOW. They will have their own floor of the school. Thankfully, the class size will be about the same as it is now, 25-27 students. They will be in "pods" and will have four different teachers; one for language arts, math, science, and social studies. They will have two "connection classes" each quarter which will include P.E. or Health for one of the two, and the other one will rotate quarterly between Art, Spanish, Technology, etc. Or they have the option to select band, orchestra, or chorus for the full year. There are also extracurricular club activities that the kids can participate in before or after school if they are interested. The gifted children could have up to four gifted classes. Parents/students will not know their schedule/class assignments until Open House, which will be in early August. Sounds exciting!
