frozen; basketball; RILEY!!!

Today was a long day... Sophia spent the night last night and they stayed up until after midnight. Partly due to winding down from the crazy birthday party. And partly because we were all shivering... In the spring, Riley destroyed our air conditioner and I had a new heat pump/furnace installed. The heat pump should heat and cool during most conditions, but when it gets really cold, the backup furnace is necessary. Guess we reached that really cold weather tonight. The heater was working fine this evening, but when it got below 40 degrees outside, the heater stopped running. I switched it to the furnace setting and nothing happened. I wonder if it was damaged during the flood? The girls were cold so I gave them extra blankets and told them they could come climb in bed with me if they still weren't warm enough. The fell asleep on the couch, eventually.

The first photo in this blog post is of Kyra (yellow shirt) at basketball practice. She's played in the recreational league for the past three years and tried out for the more competitive travel team this year and was selected. She says she wants to eventually play on the high school team so she's excited about being selected for this feeder team. Coach Rodney is in the background.

At bed time, Kyra climbed into my bed to read. We discovered that Riley has chewed a hole in my sheets! Kyra had on monkey pajama pants. She positioned her leg just right so that it looked like an eyeball and a mouse shining through the eye-hole and mouth-hole. Had to laugh (after I screamed)!
