Sears Tower

After resting a few hours in our hotel room, we re-grouped and headed to the Sears Tower although it is now known as the Willis Tower. We forced the girls to watch the video on the ground floor, mostly because we adults were interested in the history. Then we took the elevator up to the 103rd floor. At 1,353 feet, the Sky Deck is the highest observatory in Chicago. It is the third tallest building in the world, and the tallest building in the western hemisphere. For us adults, it was freakishly scary to walk out onto the plexi-glass observatory floor. It took my breath away at first, but I did it and marvelled at the view. WOW! The little girls did it easily. I had a hard time picking photos for this post. I have photos of the girls leaning against the wall, and of them with their feet pushing into the wall, and of Ty taking her first steps out onto the ledge. But these were the cutest. They are lying in the plexi-glass observatory that extends outward on the 103rd floor of the building. Between the cloud sets, we could see for miles... (and were glad we weren't sitting in that aweful traffic) The view was grand!
