5th Grade Field Day

Of course I couldn't miss Kyra's very last Field Day of elementary school! So I scheduled my physical therapy appointment for right after Field Day and took the afternoon off of work. I arrived at the school just seconds before Tonya did. Ty said she liked my hair and that only me or Danita could pull it off. And funny that she said that because as we walked down the hallway we saw Danita and Claude waiting for Joshua's class for lunch (it's his birthday - HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA!).

Because Kyra spent the weekend with her dad, this afternoon was the first time she saw my new hair color and promptly disowned me as soon as she saw me. She told her teacher as I was approaching, "That's not my mom. Ms. Magill is my mom. I don't know who that woman is with pink in her hair." Now of course the reason Kyra said this is because pink is her most hated color! Tonya tried to tell her that it was really fuscia, but it didn't matter. At least Kyra has good taste in selecting her alternate mom!
Kyra's class won the first three events and came in 2nd or 3rd in quite a few others. Kyra participated in 3 events and won 1st place in two of them. The first photo of this blog post is of her in the 4x100 relay, which her team won. She didn't place in the 100-yard dash, but her classmate, Savannah, won that event. Kyra and her partner (was it Sonia? I can't remember...) won the 3-legged race. In the 2nd photo of this blog post is Kyra holding her two 1st place ribbons. Way to go Kyra! I'm so proud of you!
And of course Field Day would not be complete without the final Tug of War. I'm going to miss Field Day next year, but am sure middle school will offer other fun opportunities.
