Kyra's cough and headache hadn't improved any so I kept her home from school again on Friday. We had planned weeks ago to run the
Strong Legs 5K with friends for Natalie's birthday this morning. (Photo of Kyra and Natalie was taken in at the top of Sears Tower in Chicago in October. They were lying in the observatory booth, over a hundred stories above the ground.) But last night Kyra hadn't improved much so I called Ty and said we'd just cheer for them from the comfort of our couch. I'm so disappointed that we couldn't be there, and at the same time, hope Kyra feels better soon. Since I couldn't run the race, and it was a gorgeous 70 degree/sunny day, I ran 5 miles around the neighborhood block with Kyra's encouragement while she watched TV. I took Riley for 2 miles then did the last 3 miles alone. I had a great run! Ty sent me a text in the middle of my run saying that they let her pick up our t-shirts since we had registered but couldn't be there. She said they had a great run. I'm so happy for them and so wish we could have been there!
