Kyra's still coughing; BAD DOG!!!

Kyra began coughing in early November. I took her to the pediatrician on 11/12 and the doctor said she had a sinus infection that had traveled to her chest. She started her on Amoxicillin, Claritin, and a nasal spray (can't remember the brand). The doctor said that if she didn't improve to bring her back (some strains of infection are resistant to some antibiotics). Kyra improved slightly; the headache disappeared; but over the weekend her cough has gotten worse. She finished her last antibotic on Saturday. Kyra's been with her dad since Thursday. Her step-mom called me this morning after taking her to school. She said Kyra's cough is worse, she actually vomitted in bed during a coughing fit in the middle of the night, and she just isn't at 100% energy level. I called the pediatrician and they said to bring her in at 12:30 p.m. Of course Kyra was shocked when they called her to "check-out" at school. She came into the front office of the school and rather than "hi mom", I got "WHY ARE YOU CHECKING ME OUT OF SCHOOL?!?!?!" I told her that she's coughing too much so we're going back to the pediatrician. She was relieved. I sent her back to her classroom to get her backpack in case it took us a few hours at the doctor's office.

The pediatrican said she has an ear infection and can hear chest congestion. She prescribed a stronger antibiotic and Albuterol pills. She said if this didn't work, she'd order chest x-rays and put her on an inhaler. Keep your fingers crossed, or say your prayers for her!

By the time we finished, it was too late to return to school. So we stopped by Starbucks for peppermint hot-chocolates and then went to the drug store to get her presciptions filled. Afterwards, I took her to her step-mom since she's scheduled to be with them until Wednesday.

After dropping Kyra off, I stopped by Pet Supermarket. (We normally shop at Pet's Mart, but Pet Supermarket was on the way home.) The saleswoman asked if she could help me, and I asked for a collar that was chew-proof. Riley recently chewed off Tasha's new collar, and this isn't the first time. (Pictured is the remains that I pulled out of his mouth this weekend.) She laughed and said, "good luck!" But then recommended a brand of collars that offers money-back guarantee. If Riley destroys it, just bring in the remnants and receipt and they'll give me another one for free. Hmmm.... it looks like the others he's chewed, so I doubt it's Riley-proof, but at least I won't have to buy another one... She also suggested that I spray it daily with Bitter apple spray. So I bought a bottle of that too. And I bought another bag of dog food. After ringing up my order/paying, she then picked up my bag of dog food and started heading for the front door to carry it to my car! I was shocked. I said that I could carry it, and she said that I could carry it from the car into the house. What amazing service!!! Think we're going to become Pet Supermarket shoppers from now on!
When I got home, I walked in to yet another surprise. RILEY!!! BAD DOG!!! I saw a few large chunks of foam in the kitchen and followed it into the dining room. We keep two folding mats under the couch in the dining room that we use when we pull out the sleeping bags. Now we have one... Riley decided he needed to shred one while I was gone... BUMMER!!!
