I dropped Kyra off at school and then drove to work. Thankfully traffic has been light this week. I wonder if colleges are out... I worked a long day and then headed home. While driving home I received a phone call from a friend who's child is ill. She has a rash and wonders if it's Lyme disease. Based on her discription, I doubt it. When I arrive home I see there is a message awaiting me. It's from Tonya inviting Kyra to an end-of-school pool party at Lisa's house. She appologizes for it being last minute, but I remember that last year they invited Kyra on the day of, so I consider it a bonus. I tried to call her and left a message saying that we had invited Grace over, but haven't heard back yet, and wondered if Grace had been invited to the party too.
After leaving the message, I changed into running clothes and connected harnesses to both dogs. I wasn't sure in the beginning how far to go, but we ended up at 2.31 miles. They were strong for the first mile and then started to slow. But they made it a fun speedwork session by forcing me to go faster than usual the first mile, then slow and do speed sessions the last half when a squirrel or bird came into sight. My overall pace wasn't what I expected, but then again, I stopped to let Tasha potty twice without stopping the watch, so my pace was probably faster than what my watch said. When I arrived back home there was a message from Tonya. The dogs drank lots of water then collapsed on the floor as I called her back. She said that Lisa invited Grace this evening. Next, I called Kyra to ask if Grace had told her whether she'd be able to come over or not. She didn't. Then I called Grace and her mom... We decided that Grace and Kyra will be go home with Bryn after school, and then I'll pick them up from Bryn's house at 6-ish to go to Hanarry West Club pool party then Grace will spend the night at our house.
Now that that's settled, I went to Los Hermanos for dinner, after 9 p.m. I walked in the door in my running attire and see Susan, Joe, Lisa, Ken and Hillary at the first table. Susan invited me to join them. At first I say I'll sit alone and read my magazine, but then a few others chimed in that I should join them so I said okay. It was certainly more entertaining than reading my magazine and great to catch up with old friends. I returned home to do a few household chores and then finally got to bed at midnight. I hated setting alarm clock for 5 a.m. Will I actually get up that early? I need more sleep!
