Happy 88th birthday Grandma Katie! I hope you have an amazing day!I got up at 5:30 a.m. (truly thanks Riley) and began getting ready. I have to leave earlier than usual this morning because I have a 9 a.m. meeting. Thankfully, Kyra got up as soon as the alarm clock went off rather than hitting snooze and me having to drag her out of bed. We left the house a few minutes after 7 a.m. and dropped the pups off at Funnybones. I can't exactly leave them home to roam around while the air conditioner is being replaced... Next I dropped Kyra off at day care and then drove to the office. Thankfully, traffic was lighter than normal. It has been all week too. Are some schools out already?
I had a 9 a.m. meeting and returned to my desk around 10:30 a.m. I was bummed to read an email that said that one set of samples shipped from Holtrachem last week to a lab in Canada are held up in customs. They might not make it to lab before ice melts/temperature rises in the cooler. This could mean that they have to redo all that hard work of collecting samples, again. bummer...
I returned home at noon and the air conditioner replacement was in action. Travis said that the duct cleaners arrived and said they'd have to reschedule for tomorrow. Not good! At 4 p.m. I called the a/c company and told them that I can't reschedule duct cleaning for tomorrow. I have meetings most of day. How about friday? They scheduled it for first thing Friday morning.
Swim team practice started this week. Kyra missed Monday's practice because she was with her dad. She missed Tuesday because she was working with her group on the Science Olympics project. I had planned to take her tonight, but the a/c installation was still in progress. I contemplated sending her down to the pool by herself, since it's just next door, but it is 70 degrees and lightly raining. I was talking to Danita earlier about hooking up at the pool and then she called me back and said they decided that it was too cold to send the kids swimming. Kyra begged to not have to go in the cold/rain and since Danita wasn't taking her kids for that reason, I gave in. Plus the a/c installation guys were still here. At 6:30 p.m. the a/c installation team hit a snag... Two wires touched while they were doing something and it blew out the controller board. Kyra and I heard the load pop/snap upstairs and figured something went wrong. It was too late for them to get a new controller board... They'll come back tomorrow to replace and finish setting up/testing. I'll just leave the basement door unlocked for them since I've got to go to work!!!
They finally left at 7:30 p.m. and I called Funnybones to see if they can just keep Tasha and Riley overnight rather than me coming to get them and then having to take them back in the morning. Thankfully they have room for them.
