Riley gets a "time out"

This morning we woke up early, had breakfast and then went to horse riding lessons. Kyra rode "Spirit" this morning. Spirit is a horse that hasn't been used much for riding lessons yet. She was a quick little horse. Kyra enjoyed riding her because she was a bit more challenging than Blaze, the horse she usually rides.

Afterwards we went to our favorite Chinese restaurant, Mah Jong, for lunch. Next was a trip to Target. Kyra had $20 that she wanted to spend. She started out looking in the toy section. She was looking at Littlest Pet Shop pets and was having a hard time deciding which one to buy. She asked my opinion and I told her that she has hundreds of them and that I thought she should save her money for something that she really would like rather than a toy that she'll spend only a few hours playing with. She's had her mind set on a camera for the past few weeks. She really wants one to take to camp this summer. While at Target, she found one that she really wanted. She said she'd done research on the Internet last night and knows this is a good camera. It was a lot more than $20... I told her she could save her allowance over the next few months, and I would give her cash instead of a gift for all As on her report card (assuming that's what she'll make), and eventually she'll have enough money to buy that camera. She's very persuasive though... She told me that she wouldn't receive enough allowance money before camp begins (she's right). So she asked if she could get an allowance advance. She promised she'll still do all her chores, but I just wouldn't pay her allowance until xx months from now. So I gave in...

When we got back home I was very tired. I laid down for a little nap while Kyra was watching TV. My little nap turned into a 4-hour nap! Wow! I felt a lot better afterwards. When I got up, I went into the living room and asked Kyra where the dogs were. She said Tasha was in the dining room and Riley's in "time-out". She was so proud. I asked where/why? She said he's in time-out in his crate in the garage for taking her riding sock off counter and chewing a whole in it. I cringed at the thought of him associating his crate with punishment, but had to admire her thought process of attempting to teach him not to chew socks.
