last day of 4th grade

(BFFs Kyra and Grace in this first photo.)

I actually got up at 5 a.m. when my alarm clock sounded. Boy am I tired... On the positive side, the pups slept soundly, off the bed, all night so that meant that I got a entire 5 hours of sleep without being woken once! Woo-hoo!!!

Off to work... I called Kyra a little before 8 a.m. to give her an update on the days plans before she gets to school. (She spent last night with her dad.)

I worked for 3 hours, then purchased a BBQ plate from the cafeteria and headed to Camp Creek Elementary School. The road was congested so I pulled into the soccer parking lot and walked. It was the last day of school family picnic! Joe and Claudette had arrived shortly before me and Kyra's class hadn't come out yet. When they did, we followed the class to their spot and laid out our picnic blankets. I really like the new picnic blanket-bag that Kyra gave me for Mother's Day!As usual on the last day of school, Kyra was excited and didn't eat much. She was more interested in dancing with her friends in the parking lot as the DJ played cool tunes... In this second photo, Savannah, Grace and Kyra are doing the macarina. They also had a blast dancing to the cupid shuffle, going through the limbo line, etc. This is so cool!!! I wonder if other schools do this?

I hugged Mrs. Walker and thanked her for such a wonderful year. She's been a great teacher to this eclectic group. She told me that she told the kids this morning that she was truly going to miss them and that they were the best class she's ever had. There are a few challenging kids, but she's going to miss all of their eclectic ways... She told me that Kyra was extra moody this morning and was genuinely concerned. I told her that she's been that way for a few months and I attribute it to hormonal changes. Kids are growing up way too quickly... I found out later in the day that Mrs. Walker gave all the girls in the class a purse and the boys got to pick a prize out of the "treasure chest". How sweet! Kyra is very happy with her Vera Bradley purse!

I enjoyed seeing Tonya, Debi, Terri, Lori, Danita, and others today too! Lori asked me if I was serious the other night about giving Riley away and I said I was just joking... Kyra and Riley have such a tight bond that even if he destroyed the entire house I could't take him away from her... She was a bit disappointed because she thinks he's the cutest puppy ever, but was glad to hear they are such a great pair. In this last photo is Kyra's other BFF; Colleen is right behind her in the congo line.

After the picnic, I dropped Kyra's bag of swimsuit, towel, goggles, etc. off at Lisa's house and then went to the grocery store. I was soooooooo tired..... I laid down to attempt a nap but couldn't sleep. At 3:45 p.m., Tonya called to ask me where I left Kyra's bag. They couldn't find it at first. She invited me to come over and since I couldn't sleep, I did. I had fun hanging out with a few moms while the girls swam in their heated pool. There was yet again a change in plans... Grace had to go to soccer practice. Her dad picked her up a little after 6 p.m. and he said he would return her to my house after her practice to spend the night. Kyra and I left Lisa's house at 6:30 to go to the Hanarry West Club pool party. There were lots of people there; more than I expected. Grace arrived at 7:40 p.m., just as the party was winding down. Now we're finally home and I'm exhausted...
