Happy Father's Day

Kyra's spending this weekend with her dad in Ohio. I hope he's enjoying his Father's Day!

I received the Gwinnett County Swim League rankings after the 4th meet. Kyra has slipped a little. She's now #63 for 25-yard free-style, and #26 for 25-yard butterfly. Thursday will be her last swim meet of the season since she'll be at Camp in Pennsylvania during the last meet and flying home during the County meet. Although she won't be able to attend the County meet, she still wants to improve her time. She's disappointed that she's missing swim practice this weekend and wants a private swim lesson at some point, with Lucas, to help her improve her time. I'm not sure if Lucas gives private lessons, but I'll call him/his mom tomorrow to see if he can work with her on Tuesday, since I'll be working from home that day. Historically, she's wanted private lessons with Madelyne, but this time, she specifically asked for lessons with Lucas. I asked her about it and she said that Lucas has been the one encouraging her to do better and telling her that he'll work with her at practice to beat her time. Madelyne is great, but Lucas has been the one that has been the biggest cheerleader lately.

Today is the end of my 1st week of 17 for the Chicago marathon Intermediate Training Plan. I ran all the miles prescribed and did one of the two strength training sessions. The 7.26 miles today (the plan called for 7) were easier than I immagined they would be. I took the dogs out for the first mile at 6:40 a.m. then dropped them back off at home before completing the remainder of the distance. I ran to the Camp Creek Greenway Trail, ran it, and was surprised at the end. The last time I ran it there was a dead-end at the end of the trail. But I guess recently they extended the trail to include a ramp to the sidewalk of Rockbridge Road. YAY! I ran up Rockbridge until I hit 4.12 miles, then turned around and headed back home. I saw one bunny (which ran under a fence before I could pull out my camera) and half-a-dozen squirrels (one pictured). I listened to my iPod music for most of the run which kept me motivated. I ran 26.36 miles this week; the training plan called for 26. This is the most miles I've run in a week since January. I'm motivated!
