I had planned to get up early for my 6 mile run this morning, but I slept a little late (6:30 a.m.) instead. I put on my running clothes anyway and vowed to do it this afternoon. We left home at 9 a.m. to go to Kyra's English horse riding lesson. I really enjoyed sitting at the picnic table in the sunshine watching her ride. Last week she rode a new horse at
Rancho Alegre. It didn't have a name since it was only recently purchased. Last week Kyra's trainer asked the girls for name suggestions. Kyra suggested "Tux" because he's black and has a white star on his face. When we arrived today, Kyra was happy to see her name assigned to "Tux" on the whiteboard. She was beaming because they chose the name she had suggested. She got to canter on him at the end of the lesson. She really likes this horse.
I went for my 6.05 mile long run this afternoon. It was HOT running in 83 degree weather. Thankfully, the occassional breezes made it bearable. The first thing I did when I walked in the house was grab a frozen juice popsicle; YUMMY!
Kyra built a "club house" under the deck this afternoon. She's quite creative. She used wood that has been under our deck since we bought the house to make a floor and short walls. She put a flower pot in a tree for a sink. She connected the hose to the faucet and ran it to a branch just above the flower pot. She tied two ropes to the spigot and took them over to the "sink". She can stand at the "sink", about 15 feet away from the spigot, and pull one of the ropes to turn on the water. When she's through, she pulls the other rope to turn the water off. Too cool!
