presentation at conference (done)

I woke up this morning struggling with what to wear. I haven't slept well the past two nights because of the painful abrasion on my shin from my fall on my Sunday morning run. It HURTS! I finally settled on a skirt that would normally fall just below the knee, but I pulled it up high above my waist so the hem would fall above the knee and wouldn't touch my wounds. My original plan was to run 4 miles today and rest tomorrow, but I decided to swap my running/rest days in hopes for more healing. Also, tomorrow, June 3, 2009, is National Running Day, so I should probably run tomorrow. I noticed bruises starting to form on my palms today. OUCH!

Although in pain with lack of sleep, I had to go to work today. I'm supposed to be attending a conference this week at the Intercontinental Hotel in Buckhead. And today I was scheduled to moderate a "panel discussion" and give a presentation at this large National Association of Remedial Project Managers conference. I was really nervous when I opened the session, but relaxed as it progressed. I was one of three speakers and then we opened it up for general discussion/questions on the topic of "Five-Year Reviews: Best Management Practices". I think it went well and received positive feedback from a few people. I hope the audience got something out of it. This was the last session of the day, scheduled from 3:15 to 5:00 p.m. The audience participation came to a lull about 4:40, so I chose to end the session early and thanked them for their participation. WHEW!!! I'm glad that's over!!!

I arrived home about 6:45 p.m. and found my driveway full of cars. I couldn't get into my garage, but there was empty space in my driveway behind Merrilee/David's car so I just pulled in behind them. I don't mind friends parking here since I was at least able to park in my driveway even if I couldn't put the car in the garage. Now if there had been no space left and I had to park a mile away, I wouldn't have been too thrilled. Tonight was swim team Spaghetti dinner/team picture night. Kyra's dad had brought her since it started at 5 and that was when my conference was scheduled to end. I called him to see if they were still at the pool, but he said they had just left. I wondered if Merrilee/David would recognize my car and come knock on the door... But as I'm typing this, I looked out the window and saw them manuevering out of my driveway (the other two cars left earlier, giving them room to get out without me having to move.) The joys of summer and living next to the pool....
