prayer works

Well, the day started off with horse riding lessons, followed by Vanessa's skating birthday party. Then we headed south to visit my brother's family. I made the mistake of going the "short" route of Flint Road which is a clay-dirt road. It was so muddy! I worried if we would be able to make it through. We were nearing the road to turn onto my brother's road and a truck was straddled across the road, stuck in the mud. So I backed up, turned around, and headed back to the main highway since we couldn't get around that truck. In going back, we almost got stuck too. I told Kyra to pray, hard. At one time, we weren't moving. The tires were in ruts and the clay mud was touching underneath the car. We sat there for seconds, not moving. My leg was shaking. I feared getting stuck or being flung into a ditch. We both prayed. And eventually started to move forward again. It was a tense 20-30 minutes, but eventually made it back to the main highway and then went the long way to my brother's house. I had sent him a text message when we were in Abbeville, so he was worried when we hadn't arrived at the time they'd expected. But when we were near-stuck in the mud, there was no cell phone service. Kyra asked what we would do if we got stuck and I told her we would call my brother and he would come get us. When we realized there was no cell phone service, she asked what we would do if we got stuck. I told her we would lock the car and walk to his house and then call a tow truck to pull the car out. Thankfully, it didn't come to that. I was still shaking when we arrived at his house. Aunt Cathy was there. My brother finished grilling steaks and we had a relaxing meal. It sure was good to be there! I'm so glad we got to visit with Aunt Cathy and the kids had fun playing together!
