Happy Birthday Sheryl! Glad I got to talk to you for a few minutes this evening!
Joe took Kyra to the airport and put her on a plane to fly to New York. She called me before she boarded and sounded happy. Joe's aunt Jennie met her at the gate in New York. Kyra called me after she landed. All was going well. I'm so glad!
Today on Facebook, Kyra's 3rd grade teacher put out a note asking for advice on how to keep her 11-month old lab from eating their entire house. I commented that if she figured it out to please let me know because we're having the same problem with our 11-month old golden. Several people commented with suggestions (valium, bitter-root, pepper spray). I'm not ready to give valium and can't spray the entire house with bitter-root or pepper spray. But one person said they used to leave a lot of rawhides scattered throughout the house. Their puppy would spend hours chewing on those rather than furniture. I thought this sounded like a good idea and was willing to experiment. Again, today the dogs were outside all day with temperatures in the 90s and they didn't drink. I had evening plans so I came home, fed the pets, and then put 4 rawhides throughout the house. Then I left for the theater, praying that I wouldn't come home to more destruction.
I met a group of friends at the theater to see My Sister's Keeper. Susan's birthday is on Sunday and she invited about a dozen ladies out for dinner and a movie to help her celebrate. The movie was so sad. I haven't cried that much at a movie in years. Probably because I avoid movies that are sad... But the movie choice was hers and I went along. Afterwards, we went out to dinner at Taqueria Los Hermanos. The meal was delicious, as always! We finally got the hint when they started sweeping around us and putting chairs on top of tables. We were the last ones to leave the restaurant, almost an hour after their official closing time. It sure was nice of them to let us hang out that long.
I got home around 11:15 p.m. and was so happy that the house still appeared to be intact! All of the rawhides had disappeared, but thankfully nothing else had been chewed. Yippee!!! Good dog!
